They are uncovered. For a day game, sun hits for about half the game before the sun goes down below the top of the stadium

How close to the aisle are the seats? Just to be clear, row D is actually the first row, is that correct? Thanks

Row D is the single row of seats in front of the view reserved section, with the aisle walkway behind you. There is only a chest-high railing in front of you, you look down on rows A-C of the rest of the view box seats. No one to climb over to get into your seats, and extra leg room.
